Just when I'm about to write the day off as unremarkable and mundane as any other, Coldplay surprises me with an inspired new single that is dependably superb. Released last Friday as the lead track off of their upcoming fifth album, "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" is a sublime fusion of pop/rock/electro. It has the signature stadium sound and strumming guitar, with a building intensity that peaks when the drums fully kick in followed by echoes of Chris Martin's cooing voice. To sum it up, it's like a breathe of fresh air at a summer festival. It's a musical feast we've been desperately hungry for. Dig in and enjoy.
