Ben Believes

Bennifer circa 2004
Leave it to Boston to facilitate Ben Afflleck's big comeback from box office flops, J.LO, & excessive hair product usage. Starting with Gone Baby Gone in 2007, Ben received critical acclaim as director of the crime drama about a missing child case in Dorchester. Then there's The Company Men, filmed in suburbs from Roxbury to Wellesley. The film stars Ben Affleck (with Tommy Lee Jones & Kevin Costner), focusing on how the Recession affects the lives of three men within a year. The Company Men debuted in the 2010 Sundance Film Festival with strong reviews- it's said to be better than Up In The Air- & hits theatres October 22.
Bens next film out in theatres will be The Town on September 17th. This crime thriller boasts Ben as both director and leading man, comes from the same studio behind The Departed, and is replete with all the action, violence and authentic Bostonian elements that one could hope for.  The film is backed by a strong cast including Jon Hamm, Rebecca Hall & Blake Lively. Jeremy Renner gives a standout performance as Ben's slightly unhinged best friend and is even garnering some early Oscar buz.
Ben Affleck proves he will always believe in Boston as he puts his faith in the city to restore the magic that was once lost (ahem, Gigli). Everybody loves a comeback, and it's nice to see Ben come full circle since debuting in Hollywood with Good Will Hunting (1997). If Ben Affleck knows what's good for him, he will stick with us and stay out of Jersey.
